It's that time of year when we are about to embark on a brand new year! It's New Year's Eve 2024! The new year makes all things seem new, fresh and a chance to refresh.
One of the things I love to do each year is find a New Word of the Year! I do this each year and try to keep that word somewhere where I will see it through out the year when I am doing my quite time with the Lord to remind me why that word was chosen.
I use a tool by Dayspring and I will link their website and the quiz tool for you below. This tool is a great way to find your Word of the Year to focus on on where you are with the Lord and how you are wanting to grow in the coming year.
As a Christian it is important to me to stay in God's word each day and to remember that I am His child and that he has a great plan for my life. So having a word of the year and some scripture truths help me with that.
If you have a word of the year, I would love for you to share it in the comments, I would love to know. Also if you use this tool or have another tool that you love to find your word, share that too. I love seeing that!
My word for 2025 is "Delight"
May seem like a different word to have for the year, but when you look at it as to Delight in the Lord it has such great truth to live by in the coming year.
You see we all face challenges in this life, and well things don't always go smoothly or the way we thought they would go. Those things can bring you down if you focus on each of those things as you go through the year, or they can me at least. So, Delighting in the Lord is such a great truth I am working on right now. To be Joyful in all things with the Lord. Because He has a plan and purpose for my life and yours we can truly just delight and rest in him as we journey through the coming year and everyday of our lives.
Here are some bible verses that go well with my word this year....
- One way to cultivate delight in Christ is to begin each day with a spirit of gratitude and praise. As soon as you wake up, take a moment to thank God for who He is, for His love, and for His presence in your life. You might list three things you’re grateful for or say a simple prayer of thanksgiving. Psalm 118:24 says:
- God’s Word is filled with wisdom, encouragement, and the truth of His love for us. Spending time in Scripture helps us deepen our relationship with God and keeps our focus on Him. Delighting in God’s Word is a recurring theme in the Bible, especially in Psalm 1:2:
- To delight in Christ, learn to see His hand in every moment, big and small. Whether it’s a breathtaking sunset, a good conversation, or a simple cup of coffee, recognize God’s goodness in the details of your life. This practice of mindfulness and gratitude invites us to enjoy God’s presence continually. James 1:17 reminds us:
- Delight in Christ isn’t limited to times of ease; it can also be a source of strength during challenges. When we face difficulties, we can choose to remember God’s faithfulness and take joy in knowing that He is with us. Habakkuk 3:17-18 expresses this beautifully:
- As you delight in Christ, let that joy overflow to others. Share words of encouragement, acts of kindness, or even simple reminders of God’s love. When we delight in God, our lives become a reflection of His love and grace, and we naturally want to share it with others. Romans 15:13 reminds us:
